Kayla Newnam is an online Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist who shows you how to reach your performance and weight loss goals without losing your mental sanity.

I still remember sitting in the hospital waiting room, hoping for answers to my mother’s disease, pulmonary hypertension. Pulmonary hypertension is a rare-life threatening disease with no cure that my mom developed from taking a diet pill. Who knew taking a diet pill could cause such fear, fear of losing my mother on a daily basis for the rest of our lives.

 My mothers’ life was forever changed, she’ll never experience Colorado due to the elevation, go hiking, workout, enjoy family walks, go to the grocery store without a wheelchair or walk around her own home without wearing oxygen.

This is why I’ve created a program that helps individuals transform their body and improve performance without disrupting their mental sanity or taking extreme measures that are unethical, and not scientifically sound. My goal is to decrease mental illness around the world and prevent other individuals and families from experiencing what mine has. 

Programs promise “Rapid Results” but  forget to mention how they leave you in the dark when transitioning out of the program.

I understand what it’s like to want to lose weight and perform better. I also understand the transitions that come throughout the journey. Mindfulness, self care, and support is crucial during all of these transitions. Whether you are an orange theory go-er, soul cycling machine, peloton rider, yogi bear, pilates master, avid crossfitter, or making laps around the block…we all have similar goals and struggles along the way. That’s why it’s important to focus on your goals while placing your mental sanity as a top priority.

➡️Are you guilty of calorie cutting whether you are seeing changes or not?! We’ve all been in that boat and it can become a vicious cycle. .
.
✨If you are truly focusing on FAT LOSS..I highly recommend finding an additional tool besides just the scale like; clothes, measurements, photos, etc. .
.
⬇️Now, back to the reasons you shouldn’t slash your calories week after week. .

#1. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐤 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐬.
When you cut calories drastically.. you restrict your food and can develop an unhealthy relationship with food. You aren’t taking the time to create habits that will help you MAINTAIN the progress you make. .

#2. 𝐒𝐚𝐲 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐛𝐲𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲!
You slash calories and now your workouts are shit because you aren’t properly fueled. Isn’t that weird? You might find yourself skipping out on walks or daily movement because you are EXHAUSTED. Totally not worth it. 
#3. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐢𝐭 𝐚 𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐋 𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐤.
There is only so low you want to go for the sake of your HEALTH. Now, if you were eating 2800 calories/day and slashed it to 2000… you missed the opportunity to make small changes and reap the benefit of that plus it’s totally unnecessary. So, now… you’ll plateau quicker and your progress will stall which may leave you feeling defeated.. and then you regain.. and the vicious cycle repeats itself. .

✨Moral of the story, take your time. Be patient. If you see changes… stay where you are and don’t manipulate ANYTHING. If you don’t see changes… give your body time to respond. There are also many ways to make changes outside of slashing your calories.. I’m going to save those tips for another day! .

Some of them worked for quick weight loss—but I was..

. 👎Under fueling
👎Had to restart on Monday
👎Binged on the weekends
👎Vicious guilt cycles
👎Lacked improvements with strength

Some things work for some people. 
But, if you have to keep restarting. ➡️Be honest with yourself!
